The Parks and Recreation Department consists of two main divisions, Park Maintenance and Recreation. The department is responsible for the oversight, maintenance and operations for 28 parks, Lake Ponca Recreation Area, Willow Springs Softball Complex, Dan Moran Baseball Complex, Wally Smith Tennis Center, Unity Gym Recreation Center, Wentz Camp and Pool, AMBUC Pool, Community Pool and the L.A. Cann Garden Center. The Park Ranger, housed at Lake Ponca, provides security and policing of the Lake Ponca Recreation Area for the department. This department also manages the lot and land leases around Lake Ponca and various park lands usage agreements. Maintenance of planting beds to include the downtown corners, City Hall, Library, Marland Mansion, Pioneer Woman Museum, Marland's Grand Home and the Senior Center is another responsibility of this department. Reservations for Lake Park Shelters, Cann Garden Center, Unity Recreation Center, Wentz Camp, adult and youth basketball, volleyball, youth softball, summer tennis and Junior Master Gardeners are taken at the Park and Recreation office.

The Park and Recreation Board will vigorously support and assist the Ponca City Park and Recreation Department to provide a variety of quality leisure activities and physical facilities commensurate with the requirements of the citizens of Ponca city, as well as visiting guests to our city.
